Simplify Completely in a Tiebreak
The Situation
The set has reached a tiebreak and you feel the pressure rising.
What To Do
Remove all risky shots immediately. Default to deep lobs, body serves, and low volleys. Win by making fewer errors โ not more winners.
Why It Works
At amateur level the vast majority of tiebreak points are decided by errors, not winners. Simplifying removes the primary error source. This is standard advice from professional coaches: tiebreaks are about who gives away points, not who makes spectacular shots.
Court Positioning
Tiebreak strategy: serve โ body target. Return โ low at feet. Net โ two-volley structure. Any pressure โ lob. No drop shots, no viboras, no risky passes. Simple wins.
